Mark Kendall Shoes Staff
Ewart McMillan, the owner of Mark Kendall’s has been selling shoes for the better part of 45 years and so has seen many changes in the area. The majority of that 45 years time has been spent in the same shop in Manners Street. In the early 80’s Ewart was selling men’s footwear in central London for a period of nine months. Bob Bell who is also a manager of Mark Kendall’s has been selling men’s shoes in Manners Street for 15 years.
Mark Kendall’s has been called the boot shop of Wellington. The previous owner, Roy Watson recounted how the name “Beatles Boots” had originated in Mark Kendall’s. The Beatles were playing in the Opera House and there was a big selection of pointed toe boots in the shop window. The sign among the boots read ‘Beatle in for your boots.’
Buying shoes at Mark Kendall’s isn’t just an exercise – it’s an experience. Customers enjoy shopping at Mark Kendall’s and many return time and time again. It has to be said that this is more like a club than a shop. New members are always welcome, so come in to visit and have a look around.
